Notaries’ offices that have not had time to build up a clientele for estate planning matters and are therefore highly exposed to the real estate market are playing for their very survival. For others, major adjustments are still needed to get through this crisis, the worst in three decades. Pascal JULIEN SAINT-AMAND, notaire in Paris and Chairman of the Althémis Group, comments in Droit & Patrimoine magazine: “For us, current real estate represents around 50% of our business, which is significantly lower than the average for the profession. We have developed a business transfer activity that is currently holding up very well.”
