Ownership of a property in France through a French real estate company in a Franco-Swiss estate

Ownership of a property in France through a French real estate company in a Franco-Swiss estate

Décembre 2019

Swiss residents who plan to acquire a property in France can do so in essentially two ways, either “in name”, i.e. directly, or through a structure under French law called a “société civile immobilière (SCI)”.

The contribution is written by Philippe FRÉSARD, notary and lawyer in Bern and coordinator of the SwisNotn network, and Pascal JULIEN SAINT-AMAND. It is intended to illustrate cases of use of SCIs by Swiss residents, whether when acquiring real estate in France or when subsequently transferring shares of the SCI.

This study is only available in French.
